VOTED THE BEST ART GALLERY FOR 2016

Avenue West Gallery features three exhibits for December: “The Night Sky”, photographs by Pat Schilling; “The Nature of Things:”  guest artist Jan Hess; and “Spokane River Landscapes” the inaugural exhibit by art students from Gonzaga University with works from Morgan Wald, Mason Dellutn, Grace Karam, Alyssa Lobkov, Kenny Koning, Jenny Albert, Mary Pierce, Abigail Kirsten, Ava Mandley, and  Kevin Barr. The artist’s reception will be First Friday, December 7, from 5 to 8 pm.  Live guitar music   will be provided by Sky Dornbirer.

Pat Schilling’s passion is landscape photography, both nature’s landscapes and man-made.  He shoots almost exclusively in color.  He used film up until 2996 when he converted to digital.  He says that “digital gives him much more flexibility in how he shoots . . .and allows him to capture images that would never be possible with film” such as the dramatic night skies in this exhibit.

 Jan Hess was a founding member of the Avenue West Gallery co-operative.  Our logo was designed by Hess.  She has also been a consignee over the years.  This exhibit reflects her abiding fascination with the natural world.

 Avenue West is engaged in a year- long collaborative effort with the Gonzaga School of Art.  For the first time, original fine art of students in the Gonzaga Art program will be showcased and for sale at our fine art gallery in Spokane.

There are 15 professional artists in the Gallery who want to encourage young artists so gallery members created this program to help up-and-coming art students gain experience in the Spokane Art community.  For the next 12 months we intend to build community awareness and appreciation for these young Gonzaga art students.  Fine art paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculpture will be featured by both the professional artists and the students. Type your paragraph here.
