Our Featured Artist For December is
Concern with and love for nature is the overarching theme for January 2019 at Avenue West Gallery with two new exhibits. The gallery features the work of Jan Hess in ‘my View of Nature.” Pullman resident Ernie Weiss is the guest artist. “Spokane River Landscapes,” the inaugural exhibit by art students from Gonzaga University University, will continue through January. The artist’s reception is First Friday, January 4 from 5 to 8 pm. .
Jan Hess was a founding member of the Avenue West Gallery co-operative and designed their logo but left for a chance to co own another gallery.. Over the years she has been a consignee as well as a guest at the gallery. Jan worked as a graphic designer but always had an abiding fascination with the natural world which is reflected in this exhibit..
Ernie Weiss grew up on an apple orchard in the Naches Heights area, West of Yakima. His love of nature came from working on the farm and exploring the nearby mountains, streams and rivers. Relatively new to painting Ernie holds a degree in architecture as well as an MBA and worked 40 years in various fields of Architecture. He is a member of the Palouse Watercolor Socius.
