Linda Lowry combines a background in art and
photography from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia with a
passion for travel. The result is not typical travelogue-style
“postcard” photos, but is an attempt to capture an emotional
response to what is perceived as the essence of a place or
culture. Linda has been mainly photographing European
countries for the past 10 years. She says, “Instinctively and
creatively, photography is my way of connecting to the world
and its people”. Strong compositional skills and vivid color
combine with subject matter that includes “Old World”
architecture, pastoral countryside, cityscapes and vignettes
of everyday life. For Linda, the camera is just a tool and
only the beginning of the total process of producing a printed
image. She says, “With Photoshop my true creative side takes
flight. If I feel it’s necessary, I can make creative
decisions on how to improve or strengthen a photo by
emphasizing a mood or making painterly enhancements with color
adjustments or filters. In this way I have more freedom and
control in achieving the results that I envision, which is a
more artistic representation of a photograph. The photos are
printed with an Epson printer using archival inks and papers,
resulting in a fine art piece that will last years longer than
a traditional photograph.”
