Steve Belzman has been making woodcut prints for over 50 years. After a career in the greeting card business, he returned to his first love, woodcut printing. He says “Using a variety of woods, as well as other materials such as leaves and driftwood, I carve a "printing plate" for each color, then print each by hand onto Japanese papers. Even though the print is part of an edition, each print is unique in itself. I like the crisp line and the starkness of black and white images that this medium can produce.” He also does pen and ink drawings of historical places and landscapes. Steven is a graduate of UCLA with a BA in Art.
