As a fiber artist I enjoy
designing conceptual pieces that bring together texture,
shape and color. The main inspiration is nature and
its many tactile and visual stimulations. Weaving,
whether on baskets or wall pieces, is a medium that is
unlimited in possible materials- such as reeds, grasses,
metals, yarns, kelp, handmade paper and even paint- that can
be interplayed with one another to create pieces of visual
art that are sensual and tactile.
As a painter, I use my
world travels to paint images of native peoples doing their
crafts, working at their jobs, or just holding their babies.
However, some of my paintings are compositions of color and
design, maybe coming from the mind or from experiments with
the medium on the paper.
